The Oral and Listening Comprehension (LC) book has been returned to the students. Please get them to practise reading the passages from Practice 5 to Practice 8 at home. Please remind your child to bear P.E.A.R in mind. By the way, the Oral and LC book is still needed back in school when I carry out listening practice with the students.
P = Punctuation (Pauses at punctuation symbols)
E = Expressiveness (Read in a lively tone even for parts with no dialogues. Emphasise adverbs and dialogues. Inject emotions when it is a part with dialogues.)
A = Accuracy (Do not add or take away words. Read every single word, even for words that your child does not know how to pronounce.)
R = Rhythm. (Read at a pace that is just right. Do not read as fast as a bullet train. Read loudly.)
S = Smoothness (Read fluently with no hesitations.)
The oral component, comprising of oral read aloud and stimulus-based conversation, accounts for 15% of the SA 2 English examination. Therefore, oral practice is extremely important.
