Sudharsheni (Second Try)
sudharsheni_p5_sem_1__second_try_.mp3
File Size: | 592 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Sudharsheni needed reminders to slow down. She was still a little too fast initially but luckily she could adjust her speed after she heeded my advice. She sounded MUCH better in her second reading. Even though she was still hesitant, there were not that many instances compared to her first reading. Continue to practise!
Keane
keane_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 615 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Keane's intonation was good! There was rhythm and he read with an even pace. He also remembered to pause at punctuation marks. I would like to encourage Keane to inject more emotions into the parts with dialogues. Think of how the character in the story feels and a reader may project the correct mood in his or her reading aloud.
Maya Alysha
maya_alysha_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 833 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Maya's pace was good. She was neither too fast nor too slow. She remembered to pause at punctuation marks too. However, I would like to encourage Maya to inject more emotions at sections with dialogues so that the meaning of the passage is brought across clearly to the listener.
Marzuq (Second Try)
marzuq_p5_sem_1__second_try_.mp3
File Size: | 713 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Marzuq's second try is similar to his first recording. Both times, there were many parts where he tripped over words and sounded unsure of what he was reading. When Marzuq has preparation time, I would suggest that he use his time to the fullest by reading the passage over and over again until his reading is smooth.
Anis (Second Try)
anis_p5_sem_1__2nd_try_.mp3
File Size: | 634 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Anis' second try is MUCH better than his first recording. For this second recording, he sounded more confident and was less hesitant. His voice was clear and his pace was good! He also tried to read with rhythm. For parts with dialogues, he also tried to alter his voice.
Claris
claris_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 679 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Claris' reading was impressive!!! It was obvious that she had put in effort to prepare. She paced herself well so that she could pronounce every single word clearly. She bore in mind rhythm, emphasis and pausing at punctuation symbols. Even though she stumbled in the middle, she picked herself up quickly, maintained her composure and continued with her good reading. Commendable spirit! *Thumbs up*
Beatrice
beatrice_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 484 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Beatrice has fluency but she MUST slow down in order for her to fully pronounce the words clearly. She seemed to want to read many words with one breath. Thinking about where to stop so that the reader can breathe is a skill on its own too. Even though she has rhythm when she reads, she should inject more feelings. There is room for improvement, Beatrice!
Javis
javis_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 815 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Javis will need to put in more effort in oral preparation. There were many mistakes. As there were many instances where Javis skipped, changed, added and mispronounced words, the message of the passage was not brought across to the listener clearly. I would suggest that Javis try to have a finger along to the words as he reads. For words that he really does not know how to pronounce, work it out using phonics skills during time given to prepare. Javis should aim to fumble less during the actual reading.
Wan Yu
wan_yu_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 570 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Wan Yu has no problems with accurate reading and pronunciation. However, she must try to inject emotions and read with a "wave-like" rhythm as now she comes across as being monotonous. Do try to sound more energetic too. There is room for improvement!
Javed
javed_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 587 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Not bad, Javed!!! I like how Javed injected emotions into his reading of the passage. He could capture the listener's attention. His pace was good and he did not mispronounce any words even though he stumbled just once in the middle of the passage. Good job!
Aaryan
aaryan_p5_sem_1__2nd_try_.mp3
File Size: | 527 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Aaryan's second reading was much better than his first one! His pace was good and though he tried injecting emotions, I thought he could have done with more. His pauses at punctuation marks were too short. I think with a few rounds of practice, he should be much better!
Maia
maia_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 582 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Maia started well but from the second paragraph onwards, she did not pause at punctuation marks and there was no change in her voice at parts with direct speech. There were also a few instances of Maia changing and tripping over words. Do practise reading when time allows. Practice makes perfect!
Marzuq
marzuq_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 765 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Marzuq was able to read with feelings. However, he sounded very, very hesitant. It was as if he just saw the passage for the first time. He also added words of his own. Please do not do that as the meaning of the passage might be altered and accuracy is affected. Marzuq, Madam Chia is sure you can do MUCH better!
Kai Xun
kai_xun_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 630 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Kai Xun's pace is ideal! He was not too fast. Neither was he too slow. He also paused at punctuation marks. He has good intonation but can still try harder to pronounce the ending consonants clearly. However, he read with hesitations and could have been even more prepared for the recording.
Hua Jing
hua_jing_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 615 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Hua Jing's pace is pretty erratic*. For some parts, he read at a good pace. Then suddenly, he read quickly for the next part. There were many parts that he also tripped over words. However, his pronunciation and enunciation are pretty clear. I would still like to encourage Hua Jing to be more well-prepared for the coming oral examinations and future recordings.
* erratic - acting, moving, or changing in ways that are not expected or usual : not consistent or regular
* erratic - acting, moving, or changing in ways that are not expected or usual : not consistent or regular
Richelle
richelle_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 616 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Richelle's pace is very good. In fact, this might be her best reading if I compare this reading to the one I recorded in 2015. However, she added an extra "next" in front of the word "page" in the second paragraph. She also has to inject more emotions into the parts with dialogues.
Agnes
agnes_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 534 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Agnes seemed to have read the whole passage in one breath because I did not hear any pauses at all. Agnes, please make a conscious effort to SLOW DOWN and PAUSE at punctuation marks. Keep on practising and do listen to a few other classmates who are good readers. Let's learn from them. =)
Noorul
noorul_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 645 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
I could hear from Noorul's reading that she was nervous! Noorul should take a deep breath first to calm herself down before she begins. As a result of her anxiety, she read too fast and changed words. She mispronounced "hurling". However, Noorul was loud and clear. Keep on practising!
Rapheal
rapheal_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 627 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Raphael too quickly without emotions. His voice also did not sound lively. He also did not pronounce the ending consonants clearly. There is much room for improvement in Rapheal's reading.
Janani
janani_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 728 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Janani's reading was not too bad! She was loud and clear. She also pronounced the ending consonants clearly. However, she dragged a few sections, especially the parts with dialogues. Being expressive doesn't mean dragging the words in the dialogues.
Sudharsheni
sudharsheni_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 594 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Cedrick (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
cedrick_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 590 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Cedrick has a loud and clear voice. He pronounced the starting and ending consonants clearly. He also injected emotions into his reading. Good job! I have two areas of improvement for Cedrick to look into. Firstly, he was a little too fast. Please slow down a little. Cedrick's slightly fast pace also caused him to trip over "Don" and "... started crying..." What a pity!
Noelle (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
noelle_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 566 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Noelle's strength lies in her smooth reading with no hesitations. However, her reading was monotonous and there was no much change in her voice in those parts that she was supposed to sound angry. She was also unfamiliar with the pronunciation of "marred" and "riveted". Pronunciation of the ending and starting consonants could have been clearer.
Candie (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
candie_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 731 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
I love Candie's pronunciation of the ending consonants! So crisp and clear!!! Great job! However, Candie must try hard to inject MORE emotions into the lines with direct speech. She sounded still very gentle. The first few lines were also a little too slow.
Dylan
dylan_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 658 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Dylan read with expression. He sounded angry enough for two parts that required him to read with anger. His pace is okay but I am worried that he may sound lethargic. Hence, Dylan can try to read A LITTLE faster. Take note not to read too quickly. Pronunciation of ending consonants like "s", "k" was not really heard. Try opening your mouth bigger so that you can enunciate (pronounce) clearly.
Yu Jie
yu_jie_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 743 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Yu Jie's pace is okay. However, he should try to put MORE emotions into his reading. At those parts that require anger, he did not sound angry enough. He also did not pronounce the ending consonants clearly - "s", "k" and "ed". He mispronounced a few words. Do open your mouth bigger so that you can enunciate (pronounce) clearly.
Allister
allister_p5_sem_1_.mp3
File Size: | 705 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Allister' pace is okay. I thought Allister had tried very hard to slow down as I recalled he read rather quickly last year. However, he MUST inject more emotions into his reading. Sound angrier! Be more dramatic. He read a little too quickly at some parts but a little too slow at the other parts. Enunciate your ending consonants clearly too - "s", "k", "ed". Do not swallow them up.
Thomi (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
Thomi started well but after the first paragraph, he sounded hesitant and unsure of himself. He can overcome this problem by reading the passage over and over again. He pronounced "marred" wrongly and changed "on his forehead" to "at his forehead". Do practise at home using the passages found in the Listening Comprehension and Oral booklet.
thomi_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 722 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Haziq (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
Haziq actually read well except that he mispronounced "marred" and he did not inject the appropriate emotion in some parts of the passage. The pace is just nice and Haziq must bear in mind that any faster, he will be penalized for reading too fast. Reading with rising intonation at dialogues is not equivalent to reading with emotion and expression.
haziq_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 537 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Jathniel
I was pleasantly surprised by how expressive Jathniel was!!! *Thumbs up* However, Jathniel must make a conscious effort not to read too quickly. As he was reading yesterday, I was using hand gesture to remind him to moderate his pace. His pronunciation of "riveted" and "marred" was also not accurate.
jathniel_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 559 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Si Ern (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
Si Ern has to improve on her reading accuracy as there were many words that were mispronounced. She read "action" instead of "actions". She also read "a deep regret" when it should have been "deep regret". She also mispronounced "riveted", "knelt" and "marred". However, I could hear that she tried to read with rhythm. Do work hard on your pronunciation, Si Ern!
si_ern_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 774 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Daniel
Daniel rushed through and read too quickly. He was also not expressive enough and stumbled at some parts. Probably the stumbling was a result of his fast pace. Even though he could pronounce all of the words accurately except "riveted", he would still be marked down because of his fast pace and lack of expression. Daniel, please slow down and inject appropriate expressions into your reading!
daniel_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 597 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Ting Feng
ting_feng_p5_sem_1.mp3
File Size: | 658 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Ting Feng's pace is good. He did not read too fast or too slow. However, Ting Feng must try to read with more energy so that he can capture the oral examiner's attention. He also misread a few words and was hesitant at some parts.
Aaryan
aaryan_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 604 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Aaryan read a section with dialogues quite well. However, his pace was not consistent. He was rather fast in his reading of the first and last paragraph. He also tripped over words like "scribbles", "book" and "causing". Do come prepared.
Fazira (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
fazira_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 634 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Fazira fumbled at one part of the passage and sounded more confident initially compared to her reading of the second and third paragraphs. However, I could hear Fazira pronouncing the ending consonants e.g. book, looked. She has a clear, bright and loud voice.
Jaden (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
jaden_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 610 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Jaden was hesitant at some parts of the passage. He can overcome this problem by reading aloud the passage many times before the actual test. I thought that Jaden could have injected more emotions into his reading. However, he did not mispronounce any words and his pace was alright.
Mithun (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
mithun_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 561 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Mithun had mispronounced "riveted" and his pace was a little fast. He should have paused longer at punctuation symbols. Mithun was only expressive at some parts. Do carry through until the end of the passage. However, he has good intonation and clear pronunciation.
Zinnia
zinnia_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 599 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Zinnia sounded a little hesitant in her reading of the second paragraph. She also mispronounced "marred". However, she has a clear, loud and bright voice. She also put in effort to be expressive. Great! =)
Adriel (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
adriel_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 460 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Pace is WAY too fast. Adriel should slow down and pause when there are punctuation symbols. Voice can do with more intonation and clarity. He also also pronounce the ending consonants clearly too.
Akmal (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
akmal_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 639 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
At some parts, Akmal sounded unsure and not confident of himself. There were two words pronounced wrongly - "riveted" and "marred". Voice can do with more intonation. Good pace of reading though.
Anis
anis_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 666 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
I like Anis' voice. He has a lively and pleasant voice. Although Anis' intonation was commendable, he could do with more. Change your voice slightly when you are reading dialogues.
Arvin (PEARS checklist signed and filed)
arvin_p5_sem_1.mp3 | |
File Size: | 712 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
Arvin's pace was a little uneven. He was fast at some parts of the passage. He did not stop at punctuation marks. There were also some parts that he sounded unsure. This problem can be overcome if Arvin practices more.
